THORNHILL, ONT – Round 2 of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs, presented by UPL, begin Friday!
Here’s how each of the two series breaks down, with a few burning questions from each.
#1 Flin Flon Bombers vs. #5 Weyburn Red Wings
Burning Questions:
- It’s a rematch from last year’s Round 2: will Flin Flon get its revenge?
- Weyburn goaltender Joey Rocha closed out their round 1 series vs. Nipawin with three games with a .948 combined save percentage; can he continue this bout of consistency?
- How healthy are the two teams? Both were below full strength in Round 1.
- Flin Flon has not played since they finished their Round 1 sweep on March 25; rest vs rust?
- Weyburn will need to beat the Bombers at the Whitney Forum to win the series; can they break Flin Flon’s home invincibility?
- The No. 1 PP in the playoffs (Weyburn) vs. the No. 1 PK in the playoffs (Flin Flon); which will have the edge?
#2 Yorkton Terriers vs. #3 Battlefords North Stars
Burning Questions:
- Both teams had terrific special teams in Round 1 and all year; who will have the edge in that department?
- Will Connor Logan stick with the Gavin Granger-Linken Fisher pairing to try to stop Yorkton’s Gabriel Courchesne-Jye Zawatsky line, or try to get them away from them?
- How much will Battlefords’ big line of Anthony Campbell, Josh Knittig, and Finlay Klippenstein see Thomas Ries’ pairing?
- Both of these teams have been very hard to stop all year offensively. Which one will be tighter defensively?

Both teams have elite first lines; which team’s secondary scoring will shine brighter?
- Who will be better in net between Yorkton’s Callum Creig and Battlefords’ two-headed monster of Kaeden Serpa/Spencer Michnik?
