Bombers’ alum Lapointe signs with Orlando (ECHL)

THORNHILL, ONT – Flin Flon Bombers’ alum Xavier Lapointe has signed with the Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Lapointe, 24, recently finished his four-year NCAA Division I career at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and scored in his first professional game on Sunday.

A native of Quebec, QC, Lapointe posted 50 points in 58 regular-season games for the Bombers en route to the SuperU SJHL Defenceman of the Year award in 2021-22. He added 10 points in 17 playoff games as the Bombers went on a run to the SJHL final, and then scored three goals and six points in five games at the 2022 Centennial Cup in Estevan.

“We are very happy for Lappy,” said Flin Flon head coach/GM Mike Reagan.

“He was a great player for us and a huge part of our team getting to the Centennial Cup.”

Lapointe scored 36 points in 100 NCAA Division I games for RIT and won the Atlantic Hockey Association with the Engineers in 2024.
