REGINA, SK – Both the Melfort Mustangs and Weyburn Red Wings are within touching distance of the 2025 Canterra Seeds Cup Final.
Ethan Dekay scored a hat trick for his first three goals of the post-season, and Angelo Zol made 45 stops as the Weyburn Red Wings downed the Flin Flon Bombers 4-1 Tuesday to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
The Bombers, who scored a whopping 28 goals in their six-game Round 1 vs. Humboldt, have managed a mere three in three games vs. the Wings.
In Yorkton, the cagey, hard-fought Game 3 went down to the wire, but Ashton Paul’s goal at the 14:07 mark of the third period held up as the winner, and the Melfort Mustangs edged the Terriers 4-3.
The defensive affair yielded only 20 shots per team.
Melfort’s power play went 1-for-1 on the night, and the Mustangs have scored at least once with the man advantage in each of their eight playoff contests so far this year.
Both series could end in sweeps Wednesday evening.
