The Nipawin Hawks (9-3-2-0) won their fourth straight game, and 10th in their last 11 on Wednesday night, coming up with a 3-1 road victory in Melville.

Melville’s Alex Maticic got the Millionaires on the board first and they led 1-0 after the first period.  From there, Kristian Stead and the Hawks shut the door.

Stead finished with 31 saves on 32 shots, while Chad McCartney and Logan Casavant scored second period goals to give the Hawks the edge, and Daven Smith scored an empty-netter in the dying seconds.

Brandon Wells was no slouch across the rink from Stead, making 29/31 saves in goal for the Millionaires (7-8-1-0).

Flin Flon kept pace with Nipawin for the lead in the Sherwood Division, as they picked up points for a fifth straight game, doubling up Melfort 6-3 at the Whitney Forum.

The Bombers (9-6-2-2) out-scored the Mustangs (5-11-1-2) 2-1 in each period.  Jayson Lavallee and Brandon Lesko each had 2 goals and an assist, while Greyson Reitmeier also had a three point night with a goal and two helpers. Braden Lacoursiere added a goal and an assist, Rylee Zimmer chipped in with a pair of helpers, and Brenden Newton made 25/28 saves.

Wyatt Hinson notched a pair of goals for the Mustangs, and Dakota Boutin had a goal and an assist.
