Wednesday Wrap

The Battlefords North Stars quickly forgot about their first loss of the season Tuesday in Yorkton, following it up with a 4-1 victory Wednesday in Melville, improving to 3-1-0-0 on the season.

 

Layne Young scored twice, and now leads the way with 4 goals on the season. Reed Delainey added a pair of assists while Connir Logan (1g-1a) notched the others. Joel Gryzbowski made his first start of the season in goal for the Stars making 25/26 saves.

 

Mathieu Jallabert scored his first goal of the season for the Millionaires and Brandon Wells made 26/30 stops. The Millionaires have dropped three straight in regulation to start the season.

The Humboldt Broncos’ big guns were firing on all cylinders Wednesday night as they cruised to a 7-2 win over the visiting Yorkton Terriers.

 

Daniel McKitrick led the way with a four point night (2g-2a) and the line of Chris Van Os-Shaw (2g-1a), Logan Schatz (3a) and Trevor Posch (1g-1a) combined to put up 8 points. Laramie Kostelansky and Dante Raposo also hit the scoresheet and Garrett Mason won his third straight start for the Broncos (3-0-0-0) turning away 29/32 shots.

 

Reid Anderson and Brandon Sookro responded for the Terriers (1-2-1-0).

The Notre Dame Hounds turned in their first win of the season while also sending Weyburn to their first loss with a 2-1 decision over the Red Wings.

 

A pair of rookie 17-year-olds provided the offense with Adam Dawe and defenseman Jacob Arsenault both notching their first SJHL goals, and Payton Porter picked up the victory in goal, finishing the night with 27/28 saves.

 

Nathan Hargrave made 26/28 saves for the Red Wings (2-1-0-0), and Tyran Brown scored his first of the season.
