The week wrapped up in the SJHL Sunday afternoon with a pair of games and it was the road teams who ended up walking away victorious.

Weyburn 2 Kindersley 0

In Kindersley, the Weyburn Red Wings completed the weekend sweep of the Klippers with a 2-0 victory. Dazza Mitchell was superb for the Wings in the win as he made 28 saves for the shutout. On the offensive side of the puck, Mi-Kwan Tallman led the way with a goal and an assist as Weyburn is now on the verge of clinching the 8th and final playoff spot. The earliest Weyburn could clinch a playoff spot is Tuesday night if the Notre Dame Hounds lose to the Yorkton Terriers in regulation.

Nipawin 3 Melfort 2 SO

Meanwhile, in Melfort, the Nipawin Hawks picked up a 3-2 shootout win over the Melfort Mustangs. The two teams went back and forth throughout the game, but it would be the 7th place Hawks who would earn the extra point. Alex Ochitwa netted his 18th goal of the season in the first period and also scored the shootout winner. With the win, the Hawks improve to 26-23-4-1 on the season and could still finish as high as 6th going into the final week of the season. For Melfort, their single point moves them into a tie with La Ronge for 4th place, the team they will meet in the first round of the playoffs, but where that series begins has yet to be determined.

Monday marks an off night in the league, but action resumes Tuesday with a trio of games on the schedule.
