REGINA, SK – Rhett Ewen led the way with two goals and Reid Arberry wired home the eventual winner with less than a second remaining in the second period as the Flin Flon Bombers scored their first victory at the 2026 Centennial Cup with a 6-4 win vs. the Sudbury Cubs of the NOJHL Monday.

The triumph throws Flin Flon into a four-way log-jam for second place in Group B, with all but one team in the group on three points.

Leo Seitz’ tip off a Ryder Knutson point shot at 6:16 of the opening frame was followed a minute later by a funky bounce off the stick of Connor Miller that dribbled past Sudbury goaltender Iain Wintle gave the Bombers their first lead of the tournament.

Ewen then banged and tipped home goals three minutes apart late in the opening frame to give Flin Flon a 4-1 lead heading into the break.

The Cubs scored three times in the second, but Charlie Tritt was brilliant in the third in net for the Bombers, stopping all 10 shots he faced in the frame to help the Maroon hang on for the win.

Landon Alexander fired his second of the Centennial Cup into the empty net to seal the contest with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Mucha, Arberry, Miller, Knutson, and Ewen all had two-point days.

The Bombers now have a decent shot at making the quarterfinal should they win in their final game of the Round Robin on Wednesday as the Top 3 teams in each group make the playoffs.
