BRUINS ROLL TO THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

By Craig Stein

The Estevan Bruins are quickly out to a 3-0 start on the young season, as they picked up their third consecutive win Tuesday, scoring five third period goals on their way to a 9-2 win over the visiting Yorkton Terriers.

Turner Ripplinger racked up three goals and two assists for a five point night, while TJ Irey added a goal and three assists, giving him a league-best 11-points (3g-8a) through three games.  Ripplinger’s five goals also lead the SJHL.

Michael McChesney (1g-2a), Johnny Witzke (1g-1a), Jack Michell (1g-1a), Isaiah Thomas (1g-1a) and Jerzy Martin also picked up goals. Kadin Kilpatrick made 21/23 saves to win his first SJHL start.

The Bruins scored the first three goals of the game in less than a three minute span midway through the first period but the Terriers made it a 4-2 game through 40 minutes.  Chantz Petruic (1g-1a) and Jared Legien who both figure to be keys to Yorkton’s attack this season, did their scoring on Tuesday.  The Terriers are off to an 0-2 start, but have yet to play at home.  Their home opener goes Friday night against Weyburn.
