The lone game on the docket Wednesday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League was an entertaining one as the Bruins and Mustangs went back and forth all night in their first meeting of the season.
Trailing 5-4 entering the 3rd period, the Bruins could score a pair in the final frame and hang on for a 6-5 victory.
Tristan Dussault led the charge offensively for the Bruins, scoring the game-winning goal midway through the 3rd period and added a pair of assists. Owen Barrow also netted a pair in the win.
Despite the loss, Melfort’s power-play continues to produce and be a strength for the team. The Mustangs found the back of the net three times on the man advantage Wednesday night.
With the win, the Bruins improve to 5-6-0-2 on the year and will be back on the ice Friday in La Ronge for their first meeting of the season against the Ice Wolves.
The Mustangs on the other hand will be right back at it Thursday night as they head to Flin Flon for a meeting with the Bombers.
The other game slated for Thursday evening will feature the Yorkton Terriers kicking off their three game in three night road trip in Battlefords against the North Stars.
