Due to an influenza outbreak, games involving the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Weyburn Red Wings are officially postponed. This includes Friday night’s game between the Weyburn Red Wings and the Estevan Bruins.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we have cancelled games involving both La Ronge and Weyburn this weekend to prevent the spread of the influenza virus throughout the league,” stated SJHL Commissioner Kyle McIntyre.
“In the SJHL bylaws, there is a provision for teams to continue to play when there are 14 players available (including goalies and affiliates) and I am confident if either team had this number of players healthy the games would have gone on.”
At this time no dates have been made for make up games for Weyburn’s postponed games involving the Notre Dame Hounds and Estevan Bruins.
