MELVILLE, SK – Only one out of five possible spots were sorted Friday night.

Dazza Mitchell made 35 saves for his third shutout of the campaign as the Weyburn Red Wings clinched sixth place with a 4-0 victory at Affinity Place over the Estevan Bruins. Sam Callahan’s first-period goal stood up as the game-winner and Braigh LeGrandeur led the way with two points as the Wings will finish the regular season higher than they have since the 2015-16 campaign.

Meanwhile, Humboldt and Battlefords, the contestants for third, both pulled off victories at home over Flin Flon and Kindersley, respectively. The evening’s results mean that the Broncos need only a point from Saturday’s rematch with the Bombers to take third, while the North Stars need a win and a Humboldt regulation loss to do so.

The defeats mean that the Bruins remain a point ahead of the Klippers in seventh with one game to go, though Kindersley owns the tie-breaker with Estevan should they end tomorrow even due to their head-to-head record.

Melville downed Yorkton 6-3 to take a 3-2 lead in the Park’s Cup standings, while Nipawin cruised past La Ronge 6-0 in an all-Sherwood Division match-up.

Weyburn 4 Estevan 0

Battlefords 5 Kindersley 3

Melville 6 Yorkton 3

Nipawin 6 La Ronge 0

Humboldt 6 Flin Flon 2
