Hounds’ Anderson named Gongshow Gear CJHL star for February

Notre Dame's Kevin Anderson led the league in points in the month of February.

CALGARY, Alt. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Friday that Notre Dame Hounds forward Kevin Anderson has been named one of the Gongshow Gears 3 Stars of the Month for February.

The CJHL is the governing body for the nine Junior A leagues, from Alberta in the west, to the Maritimes in the east, vying for the Centennial Cup, the Junior A National Championship.

Anderson, 18, scored seven goals, including one game-winner and all at even-strength; and added 13 assists to lead the SJHL in points over that span, all the while playing at all levels of special times, and situations.

Committed to Princeton University for the 2022-2023 NCAA Division I season, Anderson was ranked 119th by National Hockey League Central Scouting among North American skaters for the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Regina native is third in the league on points (75), second on assists (48), second on power-play assists (21), and is the loop’s youngest captain.

A Notre Dame Hound since 2017, and an SJHLer since 2020, Anderson has 79 points in 63 career Junior A games, all with the Hounds.

Thomas Cusson of Central Canadian Hockey League’s Hawkesbury Hawks. And Tyler Fukakusa of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Toronto Jr. Canadiens were the other two stars named in February.
