The La Ronge Ice Wolves have their first win of the SJHL season, as they defeated the visiting Melville Millionaires 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The win snapped the Ice Wolves’ (1-5-0-0) five game losing streak to begin the season. Chad Duran earned the victory, making 38/39 saves, while Kolby Johnson scored twice before Jake Gudjonson (1g-1a) added an empty-netter.
Ethan Schmor notched his first SJHL goal and Colby Entz stopped 35/37 shots for the Millionaires (1-6-1-1), who dropped three straight on their northern road trip that saw them play three games in less than three days with the early start Sunday.
The Notre Dame Hounds also ended a five game slide Sunday, going into Yorkton and doubling up the Terriers 6-3.
The Hounds (2-6-0-0) scored four time in the second period, as Marshall Wilton led the way with a goal and two assists. Jared Hamm and Nolan Renwick each had a goal and an assist, while Cole Stevenson, Jakob Breault and Charles Martin also found the net.
Aiden Bulych, Branden Klatt and Chantz Petruic replied for the Terriers (2-4-1-0).
Andrew Henderson turned in the win, making 36 saves on 39 shots in goal for the Hounds.
