Kindersley looking to turn close games into wins
In his playing days, Kindersley head coach Kyle Schneider had some underrated skill and a lot of well-known belligerence.
To a degree, it’s fair to say that he and general manager Ryan Gibson continue to build this team in his image.
While the skill level and the seasoning for what has been a young core for what feels like forever is certainly higher than what Schneider brought as a Melfort Mustang and a La Ronge Ice Wolf, the physicality, the intensity, and scrappiness look to be imprinted on this Klippers team in spades.
For a team that played had far and away the most overtime games in the first half of the season a year ago, they always seemed one or two goals away from finding a way to get the result they were looking for every night. They hope that they have rectified that issue by pulling off the biggest in-league trade this off-season, when they acquired the prolific scoring talents of Konnor Watson (along with others) from the Nipawin Hawks.
The biggest turnover will look to be on the back end, where young Tyler Hudec will get plenty of opportunity to be one of the best rookie defenders in the league after an outstanding campaign in Saskatchewan U18AAA with Moose Jaw. Big, steady, and experienced defender Justus Cutler, who comes over from Nipawin with Watson, will look to play a big part, alongside the physical and freshly acquired Dylan McCann from Neepawa in the Manitoba League.
