KLIPPERS GET SOME CUSHION

By Craig Stein

Go 2-1-0 On Road Trip

After a loss in Nipawin on Tuesday, the Kindersley Klippers regrouped and won their next two, taking two out of three on their midweek road swing, capping things off with a 6-1 decision in La Ronge on Thursday night.

That’s a big one for the Klippers (28-21-4-3), who are now three points clear of Weyburn and four up on Notre Dame for sixth place overall.  The Hounds and Red Wings now each have a game in hand on Kindersley.

On Thursday, Bryson Cecconi scored twice while Curtis Peck added a goal and two assists.  Eddie May, Brody Ryberg and Tanner Thompson also found the net, and Justen Close made 26/27 saves.

Antonio Di Paolo scored for the Ice Wolves (10-43-0-3), and he has three goals and six points in his last six games.  That’s it for home games for La Ronge this season.  They’ll close things out on the road next week, in Nipawin on Tuesday, Flin Flon on Friday.

All Kinderlsey has left is a mid-week home and home with Battlefords with a day off in the middle.  They’ll host the Stars on Tuesday and go there on Thursday.  They have this weekend off, but they’ll be paying attention to what Weyburn and Notre Dame are up to.  The Wings and Hounds are both on home ice Friday night, and go head to head on Saturday.  Here’s what all three teams in the race for 6th place have left.
