RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Chantz Petruic, Yorkton Terriers
1999 F Chantz Petruic (Moose Jaw SK) wins the award for the second straight month and actually trumped his September/October performance as he terrorized the league with 15-goals and 12-assists in 13-games played. His 27-points in 13-games represents an improvement over Sept/Oct when he had 34-points in 18-games. Petruic lit up the league leading Battlefords North Stars on November 13th with 4-goals and 2-assists in a 6-4 win. Petruic scored 10-points in 3-games against the Stars this month and he had 9-points in 4-games against Kindersley, including three points in a 3-2 overtime win over the Klippers on November 30th. His first nine games this past month were on the road, and he had 12-goals and 10-assists in those contests. He leads the league with 32-goals and 29-assists in 31-games overall but he’s down the list considerably as far as powerplay goals are concerned, which makes his production all the more impressive. MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH: Ryan Granville, Yorkton Terriers
2000 D Ryan Granville (Sherwood Park AB) boosted a thin Yorkton D corps by scoring 1-goal and 8-assists in 12-games played during the month of November. His highlight game was on November 27th against his former club, Battlefords North Stars, when he chipped in with three assists in a 5-1 victory. In fact, Granville posted 4-assists in 3-games played against the top ranked Stars this month. He also had points in four straight road games November 8-13 and he goes into December with 3-goals and 13-assists in 30-games played overall. Runner-up: James Philpott, La Ronge.
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH: Liam McGarva, La Ronge Ice Wolves
2000 G Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan AB) rattled off seven straight wins to begin the month of November and finished with an overall mark of 8-1-0-and-1 with 1-shutout, a 1.82-GAA and .947-SPCT. McGarva ended the month with a 38-save shutout over Melfort and he allowed two goals or fewer in eight of his ten starts. He also had a 40-save effort on November 8th in a 3-1 (empty net goal win) decision over Kindersley. He goes into December with a 14-6-2-and-1 ledger and a 2.66-GAA and a .924-SPCT. He also has three shutouts. Runner-up: Berk Berkeliev, Melville Millionaires.
DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Tristan Lemyre, Flin Flon Bombers
2001 F Tristan Lemyre (Mirabel PQ) ended the month on a strong note by posting three straight multi-point games. Overall for November, he scored 6-goals and 5-assists in 10-games played. He dented the twine in six of his last eight games during the month and helped Flin Flon post their best four game road trip in sixteen years by scoring 2-points in games at Notre Dame on Wedneday, Estevan on Friday, and Weyburn on Saturday. Overall, Lemyre has 10-goals and 8-assists in 17-games. He’s third amongst SJHL rookies in goals and second in points per game.
