CANALTA SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Braydon Buziak, Battlefords North Stars
1998 F Braydon Buziak (North Battleford SK) delivered a dagger to the Melfort Mustangs in game five of the Canalta Cup final, scoring two goals and one assist in the series clincher. He was also a pivotal player in games three and four in Melfort, picking up a goal and an assist in game three and then scoring once and setting up two more in game four before being ejected for a second period scrap with Jake Hobson. He finished the playoffs with 8-goals and 11-assists in 16-games played.
MAYFAIR SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Cody Spagrud, Battlefords North stars
1998 D Cody Spagrud (Gull Lake SK) capped a tremendous postseason with a four assist game on Friday night as the North Stars beat the Mustangs 4-games-to-1. Spagrud set up a goal in both game three and game four on the road to finish the week with 6-assists. He had 2-goals and 12-assists in 16-games overall in the playoffs.
SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Joel Grzybowski, Battlefords North Stars
1999 G Joel Grzybowski (Hafford SK) was named the SJHL Playoff Most Valuable Player after posting a 12-and-4 overall ledger with a 1.68-GAA and .950-SPCT. He also worked in four shutouts, including a shutout streak of just over 241-minutes (believed to be the second longest in SJHL history). This past week, he went 3-0 with a 2.86-GAA and .914-SPCT as the Stars won their second league championship in three years. Grzybowski was also a member of that team as well.
DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Kaden Boser, Battlefords North Stars
2000 F Kaden Boser (Saskatoon SK) boosted the North Stars with one of the most important goals of the Canalta Cup final, the overtime winner in game four. Boser worked his way into the line-up prior to game three and never looked back in finishing with 3-goals (all game winners and two were in overtime) and 5-points in 12-games. This came on the heels of a regular season in which he scored 4-goals in 41-games.
