PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Feb 18)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael McChesney, Estevan Bruins
1998 F Michael McChesney (Dickinson ND USA) helped the Bruins to three straight wins last week by compiling 3-goals and 3-assists.  McChesney’s biggest output was on Saturday when he fired a hat trick and four points in a victory over Weyburn, but he made sure to find the scoresheet in each game, adding an assist the previous night against Flin Flon and also on Tuesday at Notre Dame.  McChesney is scorching hot in February with 15-points in 8-games played and the Bruins have won nine of their last ten games. For the year, he has 29-goals and 28-assists in 50-games. Runner-up: Justin Ball, Melfort.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Chase Felgueiras, Humboldt Broncos
2000 D Chase Felgueiras (Calgary AB) picked up three assists over the weekend in two games played at La Ronge as the Broncos continued to roll and increased their winning streak to ten games.  Felgueiras had two helpers on Saturday and also one Friday and improved his overall totals to 4-goals and 16-assists in 52-games played. Runner-up: Brendan Mark, Yorkton.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Kadin Kilpatrick, Estevan Bruins
2000 G Kadin Kilpatrick (Winnipeg MB) continued his winning ways this past week, going 2-and-0 with a 1.50-GAA and .940-SPCT as he backstopped the team to a win over Notre Dame on Tuesday as he allowed one goal on 21-shots.  Saturday, he turned away 27-shots and allowed two goals in beating Weyburn. Kilpatrick is 8-and-1 in his last nine appearances and has 2-shutouts as well as a 2.06-GAA. For the year, he’s now 10-and-3 with a 2.67-GAA and .887-SPCT.  Runner-up: Joel Grzybowski, Battlefords.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Sam Mudd, Melville Millionaires
1999 D Sam Mudd (St. Louis MO USA) had his best offensive week as an SJHLer, contributing a goal and two assists in two games played over the weekend during a home and home set with the Yorkton Terriers.  Mudd had two assists in the Mils’ home game on Friday night and then he followed it up with a goal on Saturday in Yorkton, for his first SJHL marker. For the season, Mudd has 1-goal and 8-assists in 31-games played.  Runner-up: Zach McIntyre, Humboldt.
