SGEU MVP of the Week: Gage Roberts, Nipawin Hawks

Gage was outstanding in February overall, and started off March the same way with stellar performances in Melfort and at home against Warman. He picked up his fifth shutout of the season at home vs. the Wolverines, and is only second in the league save percentage by a small margin behind Flin Flon’s Charlie Tritt. The Hawks have picked up a full 30 more points than they did all last year, and Roberts deserves his fair share of the credit.

Week Stats: 2-0-0, 0.50 GAA, .981 SV%; SO vs. Warman

Bourgault Forward of the Week: Rylan Oatman, Melville Millionaires

Cometh the hour, cometh the Oat-man. The Mils had a critical pair of games against the Estevan Bruins this weekend, and pulled out both to clinch their playoff spot. In the always-tough confines of Estevan’s Affinity Place on Friday, Oatman exploded for four goals and an assist, and with his tantalizing skill, is a real player to watch heading into Round 1 of the playoffs. Not surprisingly, one of his goals on Friday was a game-winner.

Week Stats: 3 GP – 4 G, 2 A – 6 PTS; 5 PT-night vs Estevan

SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Boston Harkness, Melville Millionaires

Harkness’ dominant season continues, and while he leads the league in defenceman scoring at the time of this writing, he never goes outside of the team structure to get his points. He saw a gap and took it in overtime Saturday in a huge game in Estevan, blew by a Bruin, and made no mistake to grab his second OT winner of the season – both times against tough divisional foes. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound right-shot veteran plays around 25 reliable minutes a night for the Mils, and is a sure-fire bet to be a finalist for a few league season awards.

Week Stats: 3 GP – 1 G, 4 A – 5 PTS; OT winner vs Estevan

SaskTel Goalie of the Week: Matt Spencer-Dahl, Melville Millionaires

MSD has been money for the Moneymen since he came over from the SIJHL earlier this season, and was again this past week, playing every minute and winning all three contests. Melville especially needed the pair of wins against Estevan, and he was once again stellar as they locked up their playoff spot, and look a great bet to finish at least seventh.

Week Stats: 3-0-0, 1.66 GAA, .945 SV%; SO vs Warman

SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Daniel Morozov, Flin Flon Bombers

A rash of injuries in Flin Flon means more opportunity and need for Daniel Morozov to show what he can do. The rookie from BC has benefited from playing on the left of Joey Lies when healthy, and did so again Saturday with a season-high three points vs. Battlefords. His biggest nights have often come against the best opponents so far this year, so that bodes very well for Morozov and the Bombers as the playoffs near.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 0 G, 4 A – 4 PTS

Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Rylan Pearce, Weyburn Red Wings (from Martensville, Sask)

Recently committed to the University of Regina, Pearce celebrated his post-secondary decision by scoring the winner against Yorkton on Wednesday and adding his fifth multi-point game out of his last eight contests on Friday. He has an eight-game point streak going, with 14 points over that span, and is easily one of the best defencemen in the SJHL.

Week Stats: 2 GP – 1 G, 3 A – 4 PTS; GWG vs Yorkton
