PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Nov 5)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Jared Legien, Yorkton Terriers
1998 F Jared Legien (Pilot Butte SK) scored 4-goals and 4-assists in 3-games played this past week as he keeps pace with Brandson Hein for the SJHL scoring lead.  Despite a 7-2 blowout loss on October 30th to Nipawin, Legien dented the twine twice before leading the Terriers to a pair of wins in La Ronge over the weekend. On Friday, he picked up one assist and then erupted on Saturday for 2-goals and 3-assists.  For the year, he has 18-goals and 16-assists in 18-games played. He trails Hein by two points for the overall scoring lead. Runner-up: Austen Flaman, Nipawin.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Matthew Fletcher, Battlefords North Stars
1999 D Matthew Fletcher (Saskatoon SK) picked up four assists in four games played this past week, helping the Stars earn a 3-and-1 record as part of a three game road trip to finish off the week.  Fletcher had two assists on Friday in what ended up being a 6-4 loss. He also had two assists on Sunday, one while shorthanded and one while his team was on the powerplay, against Notre Dame in a 3-2 victory.  Fletcher, who had 9-points in 46-games last year as a rookie, now has 2-goals and 6-assists in 18-games in his second Junior A season. Runner-up: Charles Martin, Notre Dame.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Colby Entz, Melvlle Millionaires
1998 G Colby Entz (Churchbridge SK) boosted the Melville Millionaires this past week by backstopping them to a pair of victories, allowing just one goal and making 30-saves on Friday night in a win at Humboldt, and then giving up just one on Saturday versus Notre Dame in an 18-save effort.  Entz entered the week with just one win in thirteen appearances, but he’s back on track now with a 3.45-GAA and .902-SPCT go along with a 3-8-2-and-2 ledger. Runner-up: Riley Kohonick, Notre Dame.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Jaxsen Wiebe, Nipawin Hawks
2002 F Jaxsen Wiebe (Moose Jaw SK) fired two goals and three assists in three games played this past week as the Hawks posted a 2-0-0-and-1 record in those three contests.  On Sunday, Wiebe scored a shorthanded goal that allowed the Hawks to get to within one and then he set up the winner as they capped a come from behind 5-4 win over Melville.  To start the week, Wiebe had a goal and an assist in a 7-2 victory over Yorkton. He had an assist in a 6-5 shootout loss to Humboldt and now has 5-goals and 7-assists in 19-games played on the year.  Runner-up: Brett Gammer, Battlefords.
