SGEU MVP of the Week: Jacob Boucher, Humboldt Broncos

Despite suffering their first loss of the season this past week, the Humboldt Broncos bolstered their club with the addition of 20-year-old forward Jacob Boucher and he made an impact early in his tenure with the green and gold. In his first three games with the Broncos, Boucher compiled 4 goals and 3 assists, which included an impressive 5 point night Friday evening against the Nipawin Hawks. Boucher will look to continue his hot start with Humboldt on Friday when the Broncos visit the Kindersley Klippers.

Sasktel Goalies of the Week: Tucker Inabinet, Notre Dame Hounds

The Notre Dame Hounds won a pair of games at home this week and Tucker Inabinet played a big part in both of them. Tuesday the Hounds came back late to win 4-3 over the Melfort Mustangs and Saturday they earned a 4-1 win over Flin Flon. Inabinet got the call in both of those games, 69 saves combined in both wins. Inabinet is now 3-3 on the season with a 3.22 GAA and a .904 SV%. Inabinet and the Hounds will look to make it 3 straight wins when they visit the Nipawin Hawks on Thursday which kicks off 3 games in 3 nights.

Direct West Rookie of the Week: Topher Chirico, La Ronge Ice Wolves

It was a busy week for the La Ronge Ice Wolves as they played 4 games in 5 nights on the road. The trip was very successful as the Ice Wolves won 3 of 4 and a big reason why was the play of netminder Topher Chirico. The 19-year-old was rock solid in between the pipes for La Ronge, backstopping them to a 3-2 win over the Humboldt Broncos which saw him make 44 saves in the win. He then followed it up with a 36 save performance in Melville Friday where the Wolves also won 3-2.

Defenceman of the Week: Alex Von Sprecken, Flin Flon Bombers

One of the newest additions to the Flin Flon Bombers has made a big impact to their roster 6 games in. 20-year-old Alex Von Sprecken has hit the ground running with his new club and this past week was a prime example. The Estevan product had a goal and 3 assists in their 4 game in 5 night road trip, which was highlighted by a goal and an assist in his return to Estevan against the Bruins on Wednesday. Von Sprecken now has 3 goals and 6 assists on the season and will be looking to add to those numbers when the Bombers host the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday.
