PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 2)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Zach Goberis, Estevan Bruins
1997 F Zach Goberis (Arvada CO) is off to a rocket fast start to the season and he exploded for a hat trick in one of the Showcase games last week and ended up with 6-goals and 5-assists in 4-games played.  He leads the league in points so far with 9-goals and 12-assists in just 8-games.  Runner-up:  Michael McChesney, Estevan.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Mark Edmands, Estevan Bruins
1998 D Mark Edmands (Regina SK) got in on the fun for what was a very high scoring week for the Bruins, tallying a goal and three assists in four games played.  That included points in both Showcase games and two helpers Friday night against Yorkton.  He has a goal and four assists in eight games on the year.  Runner-up:  Josh McDougall, Nipawin.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Brenden Newton, Flin Flon Bombers
1997 G Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat AB) stopped 79 of 82 shots in his three starts last week, winning two and losing one in a shootout.  He’s started every game of the season so far, compiling a 4-1-and-2 record to go with a 1.69-GAA and .944-SPCT.  Runner-up:  Evan Plotnik, Melfort.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Ethan Daniels, Flin Flon Bombers
1998 F Ethan Daniels (Fairbanks AK) is part of a talented influx of talent up front for the Bombers this season and he picked up points in all three games played, including a goal and an assist on Friday at the Whitney Forum against Melville.  He ended up with 4-points this past week and has 2-goals and 2-assists in 7-games overall.  Runner-up:  Dakota Huebner, Battlefords.
