CANALTA HOTELS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Donavan Houle, Flin Flon Bombers
1999 F Donavan Houle (Montreal PQ) has always been a streaky scorer, but he took that to a whole new level to start the season as he led the Bombers with a four goal game on opening night against La Ronge and then followed it up with a goal and an assist at La Ronge one night later. This past weekend, he picked up a goal and two assists and then one assist in back to back home games against Humboldt to sit at 6-goals and 4-assists in 4-games played. SASKTEL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Ethan Slobodzian, Nipawin Hawks
1999 G Ethan Slobodzian (Mt Hope ON) backstopped the Hawks to three wins, including back to back shutouts on opening weekend against Melfort, making 25-saves in the home opener and then 26-stops one night later. This past weekend, he blocked 25-of-27 in a victory over La Ronge and he’s off to a sparkling 0.67-GAA and .974-SPCT. Runner-up: Keenan Rancier, Estevan.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK: Alex Rondeau, Melfort Mustangs
1999 D Alex Rondeau (Drummondville PQ) has been a big part of the Mustangs enjoying a three game winning streak after they started the season getting blanked against the Hawks. Rondeau collected two goals and one assist Tuesday at La Ronge as the club embarked on a three game road trip. He added an assist on Friday night at Melville and then contributed a helper Sunday to kick off the Showcase against Notre Dame to sit at five points through the first five games. Runner-up: James Philpott, Melville.

DIRECTWEST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Nic Porterfield, Melville Millionaires
2001 F Nic Porterfield (Calgary AB) got his SJHL career off with a bang by ripping 6-goals and 2-assists in 4-games as he helped the Mils get off to a 2-1-0-and-1 start.  Porterfield has scored in each game so far this season, but his breakout performance was Wednesday night against Weyburn when he scored three times as part of a five point night.  He also scored in back to back games against Yorkton to open the season as well as this past weekend in a loss to Melfort.
