CAMROSE, AB – The Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) have added 2005-born goaltender Joey Rocha.
The 6-foot-2, 181-pound netminder joins the Red Wings following five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Swift Current Broncos, where he appeared in 97 regular-season games after being selected by the club in the fifth round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. A native of Nanaimo, B.C., Rocha brings valuable major junior experience to Weyburn.
Rocha first rose to prominence during the 2021-22 season with the Notre Dame Hounds U18 AAA, posting an 18-4-0 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in the SMAAAHL. That spring, he backstopped Notre Dame to a Saskatchewan U18 championship before earning goaltender-of-the-tournament honours at the Telus Cup, where he recorded a 2.30 GAA and .921 save percentage in five games as the Hounds captured the national title.
Rocha continued to add to his résumé in Swift Current, including a strong 2022-23 campaign in which he posted a .906 save percentage, and a 13-win season in 2024-25. His WHL playoff experience includes a perfect 1.000 save percentage in limited action during the 2024 postseason.
