REGINA, SK – The Saskatchewan U18 AAA Final is showcasing the strength of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s scouting pipeline, with 16+ players selected in the 2024 and 2025 SJHL Drafts competing between the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors and Regina Pat Canadians.
That 16 does not include auto-protected players, listed players, and signees.
Moose Jaw enters the series with a slight edge in drafted talent, featuring nine SJHL-selected players, while Regina counters with six of its own. In total, eight SJHL teams are represented across the two rosters, highlighting the league’s broad footprint across the province’s top U18 competition.
Game 1 of the final provided an immediate example of that SJHL pipeline impact. Yorkton Terriers auto-protect forward Mahlon Wiley played the hero, scoring the overtime winner to give Regina a 1-0 series lead.
Miley’s goal not only lifted the Pat Canadians in the opener, but also underscored the value of early identification and development through the SJHL draft process. His performance is part of a larger trend in this series, where SJHL drafted players are playing key roles in pivotal moments.
Kindersley Klippers signed forward Malaki Martin also scored in Game 1, while Warman Wolverines’ prospect netminder Steven Wawryk started the game for Moose Jaw.
Through the opening game, and with the series continuing, the U18 Final serves as a clear reminder of the depth of talent being identified through the SJHL Draft—and the impact those players are already having in high-pressure situations.
