REGINA, SK – Steven Steranka scored a goal and added four helpers as the Estevan Bruins downed the Humboldt Broncos 6-2 on a busy Saturday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
Dylan Adams made 41 stops in the victory, and four different Bruins had multi-point nights.
Steranka now has 10 points in his last three games, while Drew Beasley, who tallied twice and earned an assist as well, is on a five-game point streak with 10 points over that span.
Elsewhere in Yorkton, Peter Godley was the high scorer with a goal and two assists to help the Terriers cruise past the Battlefords North Stars 7-2.
Yorkton had seven different goalscorers, and scored six unanswered goals to begin the contest.
Eli Heroux scored a pair, including the game winner with just over three minutes remaining in regulation as the Flin Flon Bombers outlasted the Kindersley Klippers 6-4.
Noah Martin saved 32 shots in the victory.
Nathan Lalumiere and Jared Miskiw also added multi-point evenings.
Matthew Bertolin’s goal and an assist helped stake Melfort out to a 3-0 lead, and the Mustangs were able to hold off the Weyburn Red Wings and take the contest 3-2.
Luke McKechnie’s 22-save effort means he has four straight starts having given up two goals or fewer; all Melfort victories.
The win pushed the Mustangs into sole possession of second place in the league standings.
Finally in La Ronge, the Wolverines went down 3-0 after relinquishing three Ice Wolves goals in 3:28 to start the second period, but rallied to take a wild 6-5 victory.
Trey Markus counted two goals, including the game winner at the 14:23 mark of the third period.
Keagin Kelln made 47 stops in the loss.
New Ice Wolf Tyce Penrod scored his first goal in La Ronge teal on the night.
