REGINA, SK – Oct. 25, 2024. Almost two whole calendar years.

It was the last time before last night that the Flin Flon Bombers lost a regulation regular-season home game.

Matthew Bertolin scored twice, and Tristin Ziola and Dru Mushumanski both added three-point nights as the Melfort Mustangs cruised past the Bombers 6-1 Saturday.

The five goals against were a career high so far in the stellar career of Finn Werner in the Flin Flon net.

Warman had three one-goal leads, and Melville rallied each time, but the Wolverines had the last laugh as Sawyer Scheidt’s shootout winner helped the hosts beat the Millionaires 4-3 in the skills competition.

Trey Markus led the way offensively with a goal and an assist for Warman, while ex-Moneyman Luke Brunen was stellar, making 45 saves and stopping all three in the shootout for the Wolverines.

Mils’ rookie forward Parker Salisbury tied the game with 2:01 remaining in regulation.

Reid Wasserman made all 28 shots he faced for his first career SJHL shutout as the Humboldt Broncos blanked the La Ronge Ice Wolves 5-0.

Oliver Phillips, Leo Seitz, and Brayden Smith all added a goal and an assist.

Nipawin scored six times in the first period, and Mason Karakochuk had two goals and two assists in an 8-1 win over the Yorkton Terriers.

Will Whitter and Mason Lowther also both had two-goal nights.

The Hawks have scored three goals or more in nine of their 10 games so far this season.

Finally in Estevan, the Weyburn Red Wings scored three power-play goals and added a shorthanded goal to beat the Bruins 7-1.

SJHL rookie scoring leader Ryan Gibbs led the offence with a four-point night, and seven Wings had multi-point nights.
