REGINA, SK – The Battlefords North Stars jumped back into third and the Melville Millionaires clinched their first Viterra Division title in a decade Saturday night.

Coach Brayden Klimosko’s Stars built 5-0 and 6-2 leads at the Elgar Petersen Arena and then held on as they snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-4 win against the Humboldt Broncos. Reigning SJHL MVP Kian Bell became the first player in the league to hit the 90-point plateau this campaign with two goals and two helpers, while league goals leader Spencer Bell notched his 43rd of the year and fourth in four straight contests.

Meanwhile, in Melville, Will Dyke of the Mils and Angelo Zol of the Weyburn Red Wings treated the fans to a good old-fashioned goaltender’s duel. The hosts finally broke through when veteran defenceman Colby Ball fired a one-timer from the face-off dot to the right of Zol to give Melville the 1-0 victory.

The division championship is Melville’s first since the 2014-15 campaign.

The win also means the Mils can finish no higher or lower than fifth place.
