REGINA, SK – Sunday afternoon’s pair of games were taken by the league’s creme.

Clay Sleeva scored twice to extend his point-scoring streak to nine games (21 points), and the Mustangs tallied three times in the last 10 minutes to rally past the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves 3-1. It was Melfort’s ninth victory in a row and they have now clinched the No. 2 seed throughout the post-season.

In Nipawin, the Flin Flon Bombers put up a four-spot in the second period and peppered the Hawks’ net with 46 shots on the day en route to a 6-3 victory. Nipawin scored twice to make it a game in the final 10 minutes, but Justin Lies’ 41st goal of the year into an empty net put the contest away in favour of the league’s No. 1 team.

Here are the updated standings after the day’s games.

Melfort 3 La Ronge 1

Flin Flon 6 Nipawin 3

The league is off Monday before a pair of games Tuesday evening.
