Even the schedule maker couldn’t slow down the league-leading Battlefords North Stars Saturday night.  Just 24 hours after posting a home ice win over Flin Flon, the North Stars were close to 500 kilometres away, beginning a weekend road trip in Yorkton, and they picked up a 1-0 win, their third shutout in their last five outings.

Coby Downs scored just 1:31 into the game, and that was enough as Joel Gryzbowski made 20/20 saves for his league-best fourth shutout as the Stars improved their mark to 29-7-0-0.

The Stars out-shot the Terriers (15-16-3-0) 38-20, as Nathan Hargrave made 37/38 saves in goal for Yorkton.

The Stars wrap up the league’s pre-Christmas schedule Sunday in Melville.

The Flin Flon Bombers scored five powerplay goals but the Kindersley Klippers still came up with an 8-5 win over the visiting Bombers.

Carson Pickett (2g-1a), Cole Plotnikoff (1g-2a) and Branden Wagner (3a) all had three point nights.  Jake Gerbner scored twice and Andrew McCaan (1g-1a), Holden Daley and Kyle Sargent also scored for the Klippers (16-21-1-0), who won back to back games heading into the break.

The Bombers (21-10-2-2) hit the break with a nine point lead in the Sherwood Division.  Jason Lavallee (1g-2a), Dondre Watson (1g-1a), Eric Sinclair (1g-1a), Brandon Lesko (1g-1a) and Nick Shumlanski all picked up goals on Saturday.

The Nipawin Hawks head home for Christmas enjoying a four game winning streak.  After a 2-0 shutout win in La Ronge on Friday, the Hawks edged the Ice Wolves 2-1 on Saturday.

Shots were 35-15 in favour of the Hawks (17-10-2-1), with Declan Hobbs making 14/15 saves in the win.  Michael Grant and Tanner Thompson both picked up powerplay goals in the victory.

Derek Frater scored and Luke Lush made 33/35 saves for the Ice Wolves (6-23-1-4).

The Melville Millionaires were out-shot 38-21 in Weyburn, but Colby Entz made 37/38 saves and the Millionaires picked up a 6-1 road win.

Damian Bentz scored the first two goals of the game, and Keegan Milligan followed with a goal and three assists for the Millionaires (14-16-2-0).  Aaron Aragon, Alex Maticic and Tucker Scantlebury added a goal each.

Ian Parker had the lone goal for the Red Wings (16-15-1-4).

The Wings are now on Christmas break while the Millionaires host Battlefords Sunday at 6:00.

And a pair of rivals ended their Pre-Christmas schedules in Humboldt, where the Melfort Mustangs picked up a 5-1 win over the Broncos.

Evan Plotnik made 31 saves on 32 shots, while Tyler Heidt (1g-1a), Lucas Fraulin (1g-1a), Adam Hergott, Andrew Thompson and Reed Gunville scored for Melfort (15-15-1-4).

Brayden Camrud added his third of the season for the Broncos (20-16-0-1).
