REGINA, SK – Dayton Tailfeathers scored on a one-time blast on a feed from Quinn Tavander at the 12:00 mark of the third period on the power play to lift the La Ronge Ice Wolves to a 4-3 win over the Melfort Mustangs on Tuesday.
Tailfeathers has tallies in each of his last four contests, with five goals and seven points over that span.
Riley Zezel made 29 stops in the victory.
Melfort had scored three times in the final 10 minutes of the second period to tie the game, setting the stage for Tailfeathers’ dramatic winner.
Finally, in Battlefords, the North Stars took a 3-0 lead into the third frame, and ultimately held on to edge the Humboldt Broncos 3-2.
Will Kirwan’s first career SJHL goal with 3:26 remaining in the middle stanza counted as a game-winner.
Kaeden Serpa made 38 saves in the win.
Battlefords moved back ahead of idle Weyburn into second place with the victory.
