TUESDAY RECAP – Wings strike hard in third to grab Game 3

REGINA, SK – The Weyburn Red Wings got a pair of goals from Callas Pierce and scored five times in all in the third period Tuesday to down the Nipawin Hawks 6-3 in Game 3.

Pierce had two goals and an assist in the win, while Rylan Pearce scored the winner at the 15:12 mark of the final frame.

Gage Roberts was outstanding in the Nipawin net, posting 38 saves in defeat, while Hawks’ forward Jack Janzen scored his league-leading fourth goal of the playoffs.

Weyburn now owns a 2-1 series lead.

In Melfort, it was the Battlefords North Stars who rallied back from down 2-0 early to grab Game 3 6-3.

The freshly college committed Anthony Campbell led the way with a goal and three assists, while Kaeden Serpa made 37 stops in the victory.

Serpa has been stellar in the postseason thus far, posting a save percentage of .944 through three contests.

Dru Mushumanski replied with a pair of goals for Melfort.

Battlefords now has the two-time defending champion Mustangs on the brink of elimination in the post-season for the first time since Apr. 16, 2024, when Melfort played a Game 7 in Round 2 against the Humboldt Broncos.

Down 3-1 in the third period, the Terriers rallied back with a pair within the final seven minutes of regulation, and Vinay Junek cashed in the winner to lift Yorkton past the Melville Millionaires 4-3 in Game 3.

Junek, Gabriel Courchesne and Jye Zawatsky all counted multi-point nights while Callum Creig made 30 saves in the win.

Melville’s Preston Baerwald scored and has goals in all three playoff games thus far, while Matt Spencer-Dahl stopped 28 shots in defeat.

Yorkton now owns a 2-1 series lead.

Finally, in Estevan, Leo Seitz cashed the winner at the 7:20 mark of the third period, and the Flin Flon Bombers brought the Bruins to the brink of elimination with a 4-2 victory in Game 3.

Flin Flon’s Reid Arberry was the only player on the night with multiple points, while Charlie Tritt made 21 stops in the win.

Nathan Kam replied with 24 saves in the Bruins’ net.
