Mils, Bruins make multi-player swap

REGINA, SK – The Estevan Bruins and Melville Millionaires pulled off a multi-player swap Monday.

Estevan acquired forward Deegan Petruska, highly touted prospect and local area player Nathan Gardiner, and a draft pick from Melville in exchange for defenceman Jack Bousquet and prospect Taren Anderson.

Bousquet, 18, hails from Calgary, AB, and is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound blue liner with 1 assist and 10 penalty minutes in 10 games this season.

He entered the year with 73 junior hockey games under his belt, split between the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League and three different clubs in the Alberta and British Columbia Junior Hockey Leagues.

He will turn 19 in December.

Anderson, 16, is from Pilot Butte, SK, and is a 5’11, 174-pound forward playing for the Estevan Bears U18AAA.

Petruska, 18, is also from Calgary and is a 6-foot-4, 197-pound winger with seven assists this year for the Mils.

Gardiner, 17, is an Estevan Bears minor hockey alum from Gainsborough, SK, about an hour east of Estevan along Highway 18.

A 1st-Round pick of the Millionaires in the 2024 draft, Gardiner finished tied for second in Saskatchewan U18 AAA scoring a year ago with 78 points in 44 games for the Regina Pat Canadians, the league champions.

Playing both centre and wing for the Pat Cs this season, the 5-foot-8, 150-pounder has 13 points in eight SMAAAHL games so far.
