MUSTANGS CLAIM THIRD IN GAME 58

Shawn Parkinson 29 saves for his third straight shutout, all coming in the last four nights, his fourth shutout in his last five starts, and his league-leading fifth of the season in the Melfort Mustangs’ final game of the regular season on Monday, which moves the Mustangs from fifth place, to third in their final game, and they’ll finish there and face the sixth place Estevan Bruins in the SJHL Quarter-Finals.

That means the Yorkton Terriers slip one spot to fourth place and will take on the fifth place La Ronge Ice Wolves in another first round matchup.

The final SJHL regular season game goes Tuesday in Humboldt where the Broncos host the Melville Millionaires.  If Humboldt wins, they jump up to seventh place and face Flin Flon, while a loss would keep them where they are in eighth, and a date with the top seeded Battlefords North Stars.  Nipawin will be seventh or eighth, also taking on Battlefords or Flin Flon, pending Tuesday’s result in Humboldt.

Alex Rondeau and Tian Rask did the scoring for the Mustangs (32-17-6-3) on Monday.

Jacob Delorme made 31/33 saves in goal for the Bombers (36-15-7-0), who head home and get set to host Game 1 & 2 of the Quarter-Finals this weekend against either Nipawin or Humboldt as the #2 seed.
