REGINA, SK – The Battlefords North Stars announced this week a re-arrangement of their staff.
Connor Logan, the reigning Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) coach of the year, has been named both the head coach and general manager of the club ahead of the 2026-27 season; he held the title of Head Coach a year ago.
Logan, who turns 30 this month, helped to guide the Stars to a 35-15-4-2 record this past season (his first with the club), a playoff No. 3 seed, and a Nutrien Division title, which they won by 20 points.
“Connor had a great first year and led a young team to the second round, pushing it all the way to Game 7,” said team president Kyle Kellgren.
“We saw a lot of growth throughout the season, and we’re looking forward to even better things coming from Coach and this group in the upcoming season.”
Wylie Riendeau, 37, will continue on as the club’s assistant general manager and head scout. The Boharm, SK native has been the Stars’ scouting guru since the 2017-18 season, and has worked with the club since 2013.
As such, he has been part of three SJHL championship teams (2017, 2019 & 2023).
He also served as a scout for the Western Hockey League finalist Prince Albert Raiders this past season, a post he has held since the 2022-23 season.
“Wylie has been with us for over 10 years,” said Kellgren.
“He’s the behind-the-scenes guy and one of the main reasons we have won three championships during his time with the organization. Wylie is the best scout in the league and continues to find talent from all over the world. His work and dedication are a huge part of what makes the North Stars successful.”
Owen Lamb will also return as an assistant coach for his third season.
The North Battleford local and 28-year-old played in three campaigns for the Stars between 2016 and 2019 before suiting up for the University of Alberta at Augustana in Camrose, AB.
