SGEU MVP of the Week: Finlay Klippenstein, Battlefords North Stars
If the North Stars are the breakout team of the league this year, then Klippenstein is the breakout player. Four goals in two games against Flin Flon is no mean feat, added to the fact that he has 15 goals in his last 14 games. The consistency has been remarkable.
Week Stats: 2 GP – 4 G, 1 A – 5 PTS, GWG vs Flin Flon
Bourgault Forward of the Week: Ewan Rennie, Estevan Bruins
Now leading the league by 4 points, the veteran has been hard to stop all year. His four-point night Saturday against Melville was the second such output of the campaign so far for the man from Langley, BC.
Week Stats: 2 GP – 2 G, 3 A – 5 PTS
SuperU Defenceman of the Week: Vincent Palmarin, Warman Wolverines
It has been a tough year for the league’s new boys, but when healthy, Warman’s captain has been precisely what Coach Brett Pilkington could have wanted. A powerful presence in the defensive zone, he also had five points against an excellent Weyburn team this past weekend.
Week Stats: 2 GP – 2 G, 3 A – 5 PTS
SaskTel Goaltender of the Week: Brady Holtvogt, Humboldt Broncos
Holtvogt is just back from the WHL, and the return comes at a perfect time with league No. 1 goaltender Charlie Tritt day-to-day with an injury. No problem for the big local boy Holtvogt, who was stellar in a crucial 3-point weekend vs. Melfort.
Week Stats: 1-0-0-1, .932 SV%, 2.47 GAA
SaskMilk Rookie of the Week: Adam Savage-Keller, Weyburn Red Wings
The goals were certainly flying in for Weyburn in Warman this past weekend, and Savage-Keller, who came into the week with a single point on the year, notched the old ‘Gordie Howe Hat-trick’ Saturday, with a goal, an assist, and a fight. The Wings as a whole put up 14 goals in the two games against the Wolverines.
Week Stats: 3 GP – 1 G, 3 A – 4 PTS
Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week: Boston Harkness, Melville Millionaires (White City, SK)
The SJHL’s Defenceman scoring leader is on another excellent run of production, with five assists in his last three games. Melville is in a serious up-swing in a year that has had its ups and downs, but Captain Harkness has been a rock all season long.
Week Stats: 2 GP – 0 G, 4 A – 4 PTS
