PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (Oct 21)

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Jordan Guiney, Yorkton Terriers
1999 F Jordan Guiney (Victoria BC) scored his first four goals of the season this past week over the course of three games played and he registered five points total.  Guiney scored twice against Estevan on Wednesday and then added another goal and one assist on Friday versus La Ronge. Guiney capped the week with the overtime winner on Saturday against the Ice Wolves.  He now has 4-goals and 13-assists in 15-games on the year. Runner-up: Easton Haygarth, Flin Flon.

MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Noah Form, Battlefords North Stars
2000 D Noah Form (Saskatoon SK) is part of a powerhouse defense corp for the North Stars and it was his turn to shine this past week as he contributed 2-goals and 2-assists across three Battlefords victories.  He scored during an overtime win over La Ronge on Wednesday and then had an assist on the tying goal during a win over Nipawin on Friday. He capped the win with the tying goal and setting up the winner during a third period come from behind barrage against the Hawks on Saturday.  Form has 3-goals and 7-assists in 16-games played and is two points away from setting a career high in points for a season. Runner-up: Noah Kadachuk, Melfort.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Zach Johnson, Kindersley Klippers
1999 G Zach Johnson (Regina SK) turned in his two best performances this season as the Klippers begin the week on a three game win streak.  Johnson stopped 36-of-37 on Friday night in a win over the Weyburn Red Wings. One night later, he made 48-saves and yielded only a single goal as the Klippers downed the Estevan Bruins.  Johnson is 3-and-6, 3.69, .903 on the year, but he’s really picked it up over the last couple of weeks, posting a 2.22-GAA and .945-SPCT in his last four starts. Runner-up: Noah Decottignies, Weyburn.

DIRECTWEST SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Spencer Kennedy, La Ronge Ice Wolves
2000 F Spencer Kennedy (Lethbridge AB) had a coming out party against the Yorkton Terriers on Friday night with a 2-goal and 2-assist performance as part of a 6-4 win.  It was part of a five point week over the course of three games played. Kennedy played last year in the KIJHL with Kimberley and has 2-goals and 4-assists in 13-games played this season as a Junior ‘A’ rookie.  Runner-up: Troy Hamilton, Estevan.
