SATURDAY RECAP: Williams’ winner snaps Bombers streak

REGINA, SK – Rylan Williams scored 3:21 into overtime, and the Battlefords North Stars ended the Flin Flon Bombers win streak at 10 with a 3-2 victory on a busy Saturday in the SJHL. Justen Maric made 33 stops in the win.

The Bombers’ unbeaten in-regulation run was extended to 11 contests.

Zak Anderson led the way with a goal and an assist as the Kindersley Klippers withstood a late Weyburn Red Wings rally to earn a split of the weekend set in Assiniboia with a 4-2 win.

Ben Laurette made 22 saves and notched a shutout in his Millionaires debut as Melville blanked the Estevan Bruins 2-0. Leo Jewitt notched the winner at the 8:20 mark of the second period.

In Nipawin, Ice Wolves’ forward Dylan Nazareth’s first goal of the year was the winner, and Graham Brown earned a 20-save shutout in a 3-0 La Ronge win over the Hawks.

Finally, the Melfort Mustangs extended their win streak to 12 games with two power-play goals and one shorthanded goal en route to a 5-2 triumph in Humboldt vs. the Broncos.
