REGINA, SK – The streak had to end sometime.

Flin Flon’s perfect start to the season came to an end as Charlie Tritt made 39 stops and Tyrone Sobry scored twice to lead the Humboldt Broncos to a 5-3 victory over the Bombers at the Elgar Petersen Arena Tuesday.

The northwest Manitoba club started the year 6-0 before running into the Broncos.

The Bombers scored the first two goals of the contest before Humboldt scored five of the next six markers.

In Nipawin, the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves played in their third straight overtime game, and fourth in their last five contests.

It was the Hawks who would come out on top 4-3, however, as Eric Hoiness notched the winner in the shootout.

Ice Wolves rookie Evan Cook was the high scorer with his first two career goals, while the Hawks’ Jack Janzen’s third-period tally sent the game into the extra frame after the former had given La Ronge two separate leads in the final frame.

Finally, in Yorkton, it was the Weyburn Red Wings who came away with a 5-2 win over the Terriers behind a pair of goals from centreman Lucas Schmid. Despite the seven goals on the night, both Weyburn’s Preston Patenaude and Yorkton’s Alexandro Montoya stood out in net, each posting 33-save performances.
