REGINA, SK – The Nipawin Hawks scored three times in the third period to earn a point, despite being down 5-2 with 16 minutes remaining in regulation, but it was the Melville Millionaires who found a way to get both points in a wild 6-5 shootout victory Tuesday.
Kale Margolis was the only man to find the back of the net in the skills competition, while Jaden Kokosha led the way in regulation with a goal and an assist for the Moneymen.
Nipawin’s Konnor Watson replied with a pair of quality finishes in defeat.
In Humboldt, it was the Battlefords North Stars who ran their unbeaten run to nine games with a 4-1 win over the Broncos.
Battlefords is 8-0-1 over the last nine games, and has not lost in regulation since Dec. 13.
Kaden Serpa made 25 stops in the victory, while Alessio Nardelli’s second-period marker proved the winner.
Finally, in Weyburn, the Red Wings scored two of their three goals on the power play, and Joey Rocha made 35 saves for his first career SJHL shutout in a 3-0 victory vs. the Kindersley Klippers.
