Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League alumni Barry Trapp, Chris Kunitz, and the late Doug Wickenheiser and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Referee in Chief Brad Howard are set to be inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in 2025.
Trapp, 83, hails from Balcarres, SK, played for the Melville Millionaires in the 1959-1960 campaign. He coached the Regina Pat Blues of the SJHL in 1981-82. He went on to have a long scouting career with Hockey Canada, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League.
Kunitz, 45, of Regina, SK, played 127 SJHL games for the Millionaires between 1997 and 1999, where he posted 151 points, before going on to a four-year career in NCAA Division I hockey with Ferris State University. He then played in 1022 regular season and 178 National Hockey League playoff games, wherein he won four Stanley Cups and an Olympic Gold Medal.
Wickenheiser, who passed away from cancer in 1999, played for the SJHL’s Regina Pat Blues in the 1976-77 season and went on to play in 597 NHL games with Montreal, St. Louis, Vancouver, New York, and Washington.
He also played professionally in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.

This summer’s event is set to unfold in the Queen City, commencing at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton
Hotel & Conference Centre Regina. An unforgettable evening is anticipated, dedicated to celebrating the outstanding careers and achievements of the eight (8) inductees and one (1) team deserving of this prestigious honour.

The Class of 2025 inductees will also be unveiled on Friday, February 28, 2025, before the Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats home game starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Brandt Centre.
Ticket information for the July banquet will be announced in the near future.
All proceeds generated from this fundraising event will go towards the operation of the SHHOF.
